USING THE MEDIA TO PROFILE YOUR ORGANISATION AT NO COST
The 1-day workshop is aimed at building the participants’ confidence in generating media stories on their organizations. Too often, organizations rely on paid advertisements to generate publicity for their programmes when there are many cost-free opportunities to achieve the same results through media stories. Participants will be trained to identify strong story angles or hooks to profile their organizations positively, develop strategies to interest journalists with the stories, and collaborating with the journalists to get the stories done.
Participants will come away from the course with a good understanding of the essential ingredients of a good story and the role they can play in generating the story.
The workshop is suitable for public relations officers and supervisors of government ministries, private sector, and non-government organizations. It is also suitable for heads of non-PR departments who wish to motivate their staff to be more alert in identifying potential opportunities to raise the profile of their organizations through the media.
The trainer, EDWARD TANG, is qualified to lead the workshop, having spent many years as a foreign correspondent reporting on Thailand and re-angling his reports to make them relevant to Singaporean readers. More recently, as Deputy Director, Communications of the Ministry of Community Development and Sports, he adopted a proactive approach by motivating his staff to work closely with journalists to generate media stories on the ministry’s programmes.
