Corporate Resilience- The Only Competency that Matters
Achieving and sustaining growth is hard – the question is just how hard?
In ‘Stall Points’ a study conducted in 1998 found that 95% of Fortune 50 companies studied had their growth stalled at least once during a 40-year period. Stalling is understandable - all growth markets eventually become saturated and mature. However, what is revealing is that only 4% of the companies whose growth has stalled managed to re-ignite their high growth.
Corporate resilience is the ability of a company to anticipate and/or implement an effective course of action to overcome ‘unthinkable or unreasonable’ challenges. Companies that are resilient are those who either managed to avoid the prospect of stalling growth and those who have overcome low-growth in their core markets and moved on
